Office Work for Parents Organizing for Welfare and Economic Rights: POWER has ongoing office work opportunities to develop volunteer skills and support the organization, which include everything from filing, data-basing, computer design, answering phones, legal research, and advocacy work. We will provide training. No experience is necessary, however, volunteer must be comfortable in a nonsexist, nonracist, woman-centered environment. Be a Buddy to an Adult with Disabilities: Our hope for the "Be a Buddy" program is to help the individuals we serve to make lasting friendships with other members of the community. Each volunteer is partnered with an adult with disabilities with an identified interest with volunteers who share similar interests such as, going to the library, walk on the beach, catching a movie, painting a picture, or discovering a life-long dream. Being a Buddy offers those we serve the opportunity to enjoy the everyday things that we all like to do as well as feel more connected to their community and be more social. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be able to pass a background check. We want everyone to feel successful so we provide a series of trainings offered in a one day seminar. Event Organizers Sought for Crisis Clinic: The Crisis Clinic seeks to have 2 annual public events and 3-6 small group events. These positions would plan, coordinate, and administer the events for the Crisis Clinic. Intended purposes of the events include maintaining public awareness of the Clinic's role in the Community and fund raising. Volunteers for these positions should have at least 6 hours a week to donate to the effort. Experience preferred, but willingness, time, and an ability to organize might also fit. Housing Advocates Needed for Camp Quixote: Advocates are needed to connect CQ residents and others to community resources. Advocates attend training and agree to serve a minimum of 6 hours a month in service. Duties include meeting with resident/ client who has requested advocacy services and assisting individuals in accessing resources and/or navigating local social service system. Kennel Worker Volunteer Needed for Adopt a Pet: A kennel worker comes on the day/s of their choice to help take care of the dogs. This job takes approximately three to four hours with the daily times depending on the day the volunteer works. Monday through Friday times are usually 11am until 3pm with weekend volunteers coming in the mornings, usually starting around 9:30 am. The jobs range from kennel cleaning which involves feeding, watering and picking up after the dogs, to dog walking, socializing, laundry and housekeeping. Musicians Needed at The Hampton: Our residents enjoy a lot of things at The Hampton, but one thing that everyone can usually enjoy, no matter what limitations they may have, is music! Newsletter Folding Party Volunteers Needed for Interfaith Works: Interfaith Connection, our monthly newsletter, contains stories from our member congregations, information about how to help the hungry and homeless in our community, a Calendar of Events, and ways to participate in other projects and fun events. It is mailed to over 600 individuals, congregations, and organizations in Thurston County, and distributed at local libraries and community centers. Office Volunteers Needed for the Humane Society of Mason County: We need daily volunteers to man the information office, located at the Belfair Chamber of Commerce. The volunteers answer questions, take information about lost or found pets, pets needing a new home, provide information about Spay/Neuter Programs.
